Wednesday, April 6th

Today I gave you the directions for the notable person portion of your paper.  You can find the sample I showed you on our edline page at the bottom of the page under "Calendar."  Remember to begin this portion of your paper with a clear introduction and a thesis; what are you trying to prove your person did for the profession you are researching.  Again, read my sample to help you if you need it!

With the remainder of the class time we headed to the computer lab to sign up for Turnitin.com  This site will be very useful!  It will help us to become paperless as you will submit your research online.  I will also be able to write better comments as the site has a place for me to electronically make them.  Furthermore this site is used at our own Shrine High School and most colleges only accept electronic documents using this site or sites like this one.  They help diminish plagiarism and help students learn how to quote/paraphrase/cite properly.

Homework:
  • Make sure you EMAIL YOUR INTERVIEW QUESTIONS!  Again, I cannot stress to you the importance of this.  I will not accept any excuses for missing interviews.  I will automatically deduct the points if you don't have one.
  • Begin drafting your notable person section.  You will have all day Thursday and Friday in the lab.  The rough draft will be due on Monday, April 11th.  On Monday we will have the entire class devoted to peer editing!
  • Go to Turnitin.com and submit the "Rough Draft---first time using Turnitin" assignment.  This is to ensure I am receiving your documents.  You can turn in ANY part of your rough draft you wish.  I am not grading any part of it.  I AM ONLY GRADING THE FACT YOU WERE ABLE TO SEND SOMETHING TO ME.  Again, I don't care how little/or how much you have.  It is simply a measuring if I am able to connect with all of you electronically.
